Marine Cadet’s go Royal!!!!

CPO (SCC) Dean Marshall | April 12, 2010

Her Majesty The Queen has graciously agreed to the use of the prefix ‘Royal’ for Marine Cadets of the Sea Cadet Corps and they are to be known as “Royal Marines Cadets” with immediate effect.

This is a great honour and Rugby is lucky to have a Royal Marine Cadet detachment based within Rugby Sea Cadets.

The announcement was made at the Royal Albert Hall in the presence of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, Captain General of The Royal Marines.
Rugby Royal Marine Cadets is open to girls and boys aged 13 years plus and is Recruiting Now!

Our aim is to provide opportunities for young people to develop into responsible, reliable and useful members of society. We also promote the highest level of self-discipline, respect self and others and comradeship as well as the principles of leadership. We can achieve this through the system of military discipline, Royal marine ethos and adventure training.

Why not take a look, see what you think and join us?

We will remember them . . .

CPO (SCC) Dean Marshall | November 9, 2008

Cadets and Staff of the Rugby Sea Cadet Unit paraded though Rugby Town today for the 90th Anniversary of the Armistice of World War One. Sea Cadets and Marine Cadets from Training Ship Tireless joined other cadets from the Rugby Army Cadet Force, Rugby Air Cadet Force, Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Girl Guides, Boys Brigade, Girls Brigade and St John Ambulance Cadets.  The cadet forces joined veterans from the Royal Naval Association, Rotary Clubs, crew members from HMS Tireless, the Royal British Legion and Rugby Councillors, including the Mayor of Rugby, Councillor Bill Sewell.  The service was held at the Memorial Gates on Hillmorton Road, in front of a large turnout form the public and was led by Reverend Mark Beach of St Andrews Church. Following hyms, a 2 minute silence at 11.00am and a march past and salute for the Mayor, the parade took route through the town centre and back to the TA Centre on Edward Street.

Rugby Sea Cadets take part in three Remembrance day parades each year, but this year we were represented at four parades; Rugby Town Centre, Bilton, Hillmorton and Lutterworth in Leicestershire.

Commemorative events took place all over the UK, with the Queen attending the Cenotaph in London.
